Forming the outermost ring, the rope motif symbolizes interconnected strength and diversity, while a row of triangular patterns evokes both the country's mountain ranges and festive banderitas, reflecting the Filipino spirit of resilience and celebration. The next row features the swimming Sarimanok, the mythical bird representing migration, adaptability and perseverance. Interwoven heart motifs follow, expressing love, compassion and the deep sense of community that unites Filipinos. Further in, Canadian sugar maple leaves blend seamlessly with plant-based okir motifs, symbolizing unity between the two cultures.
