14K Yellow Gold Square-Cut Ruby and Diamond French Back Earrings

These 14K yellow gold ruby and diamond earrings are an elegant blend of sculptural form and vivid colour, designed with both movement and structure in mind. Each earring features a distinctive folding construction, reminiscent of a refined buckle or even the gentle curve of a money clip. The back portion forms an oval-shaped base, highly polished and pierced through the centre, leaving a smooth, gleaming gold curve visible around the open space. 

As the design flows downward, the sides taper slightly and curl at the base, with the lower portion folding forward to rest against the open section, concealing the negative space when worn and creating a seamless, dimensional silhouette. This back section is slightly larger than the front, allowing the rich yellow gold to frame the design visibly at the top and along the sides. The front element, which folds over the base, is where the gemstones take centre stage. It is set with two vertical rows of square-cut rubies, each row composed of five stones channel set side by side in a north-to-south orientation. The precise gold channels form clean lines between the rows, enhancing the geometric appeal and emphasizing the saturated red tones of the rubies.

Encircling this central ruby arrangement is a gently curved border of round, brilliant-cut diamonds, each prong set to follow the contour of the form. These diamonds add a luminous frame, softening the linearity of the rubies with their scintillating sparkle.
