14K Yellow and White Gold Vintage Emerald and Diamond Navette Ring
Product Overview
Elegant and distinctly vintage in character, this 14K gold emerald and diamond navette ring is a graceful study in contrast, texture, and refined detail. At its centre rests a 0.33 carat round cabochon cut emerald, prong set in warm yellow gold. The emerald’s smooth, domed surface glows with rich green depth, its cabochon cut emphasizing colour and natural beauty over faceting. The setting allows the stone to take focus while maintaining an airy openness beneath, left uncovered at the base to invite light to pass through and enhance the emerald’s vibrancy. Framing the centre stone above and below are sculpted yellow gold leaf motifs that extend outward toward the pointed tips of the navette silhouette. These organic elements introduce softness and movement, drawing the eye along the elongated shape of the design. Encasing the entire central composition is a white gold scalloped plaque, navette shaped and delicately pierced through the middle where the emerald and leaf details reside. The openwork is enhanced with fine ribbed patterning, adding texture and dimension. Set within this white gold frame are twelve round, brilliant-cut diamonds. The white gold plaque rests upon a matching yellow gold base of identical shape, creating a layered, two-tone effect that adds depth and definition. The shoulders are finished with high polished diamond shaped accents that sit atop the gleaming yellow gold band, offering a subtle geometric balance to the ornate centre. The interplay of polished surfaces, ribbed texture, openwork, and scalloped edges results in a richly detailed yet harmonious design.
The navette (marquise shaped) style has enjoyed several periods of popularity, particularly during the late Victorian, Edwardian, and mid-20th-century eras. The combination of a cabochon emerald, two-tone gold construction, pierced white gold plaque, and brilliant cut diamond accents suggests this ring was likely produced in the mid-20th century, possibly between the 1940s and 1960s. During this time, jewellers frequently incorporated contrasting gold colours, textured metalwork, and elongated silhouettes into their designs.
