Summer Beauty

Product Overview

This exquisite antique ring is crafted in luminous 18K white gold and centred with a lustrous 8.3 mm round cultured pearl. The design features a subtle square frame oriented as a diamond shape, its tips pointing gracefully toward the finger and shank, lending the piece both architectural strength and elegant symmetry. Radiating from the pearl are four beautifully pierced arms, each forming a cross‑like motif. Within each open arm, two stacked old European-cut diamonds are finely bezel set, the smaller gem sitting above a larger one, creating the impression that each diamond cluster floats delicately above the finger. Every bezel is accented with hand applied milgrain, enhancing the antique character and lending depth and texture to the design. Between the pierced sections and tying them together, are four triangular plaques, each set with a single old European-cut diamond and framed with intricate milgrain detailing. This ornate, low profile setting sits comfortably on the hand while showcasing a total of 12 old European-cut diamonds combining approximately 0.42 carats of scintillating brilliance.

Old European-cuts were the premiere diamond style of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, especially popular from circa 1890 to the 1930s. These transition cuts were precursors to the modern round brilliant, featuring a smaller table, higher crown, and larger, deeper facets that produce a warm, distinctive sparkle with softer, romantic flashes of light, very different from the sharper brilliance of contemporary cuts. Their hand cut charm is prized by collectors and antique jewellery enthusiasts alike. Given the use of old European-cut diamonds, detailed milgrain work, and architectural pierced design, this ring likely dates to the Edwardian or early Art Deco era (circa 1910–1930). During this period, jewellers favoured geometric forms, delicate craftsmanship, and a mix of strong design with refined feminine details, all evident in this remarkable piece.
