18K Yellow and White Gold Double Disc Drop Byzantine Diamond Earrings, Signed "Dovris"

These striking Dovris double disc Byzantine style drop earrings are a beautiful expression of ancient artistry interpreted through refined modern craftsmanship. Designed with movement and dimensionality, each earring features two convex circular discs arranged in a graceful drop. The smaller upper disc holds the post and butterfly back and connects by delicate jump rings to the larger lower disc, allowing the earrings to sway elegantly when worn. Both discs share the same intricate decorative motif, though the lower disc is slightly larger in scale, enhancing the layered visual effect. The background of each disc is finished in black rhodium, creating a dramatic dark canvas that highlights the luminous goldwork above it. Over this darkened background lies an elaborate Byzantine inspired pattern formed with twisted rope wires and finely granulated gold beads, techniques deeply rooted in ancient Mediterranean jewellery traditions. 

At the centre of each disc sits a bezel set round brilliant cut diamond, secured in a sleek high polished bezel that contrasts beautifully with the surrounding texture. Radiating around the diamond is a four leaf clover motif crafted from twisted wire. This clover form is framed by a circular border of twisted wire, while small high polished gold beads nestle between the clover’s curves. Additional granulated beads cluster near the diamond, enriching the design with depth and intricate detail. The larger lower disc mirrors this pattern with a slightly expanded layout, reinforcing the harmonious double disc design.

These earrings are crafted by Panagiotis Dovris of Athens, Greece, whose work draws upon century old goldsmithing traditions. As highlighted by Penelope’s of Greece, the collection is a spectacular example of old world craftsmanship revived for contemporary jewellery lovers. The beadwork and twisted wire ornamentation echo techniques dating back nearly 6,000 years to the Phoenician era, when artisans perfected the decorative arts of granulation and wirework. Each piece in the collection is individually handmade, reflecting the true spirit of traditional Greek jewellery.
