Product Overview
Following the quick sell-out of subscriptions for the full 2020 Real Shapes series and a quick sell-out of single coins for the loon, caribou, Bluenose, beaver and coat-of-arms designs, this sixth and final coin in the series by the Royal Canadian Mint is expected to be equally popular. Launched in 1996 to replace the two-dollar banknote, Canada's two-dollar coin is affectionately called the "toonie" because... well, because we call the one-dollar coin the "loonie" (after the common loon on its reverse)!

The coin is dated 2020 with a $2 denomination and weighs over three ounces of pure silver. The mintage is extremely limited to just 1,200, which adds to its collectability.

This unique coin presents the reverse design of Brent Townsend's 1996 two-dollar circulation coin: a stylized adult polar bear standing on an ice floe, gazing out over the early summer Arctic landscape. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
