The reverse image, provided by DC Comics/Warner Brothers, features a full-colour modern Superman in a classic pose. The reverse is engraved with the word "Canada," the date "2013" and the face value of "15 dollars," as well as "75 years of Superman" in the fictitious Kryptonian language of Superman's home planet. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

When the planet Krypton's core grows unstable and scientist Jor-El discovers that his world will soon die, he has one last hope: to rescue his infant son, Kal-El. Rocketing his only child into space, the battered spacecraft crashes on Earth near Smallville, Kansas, where it is discovered by Jonathan and Martha Kent. Shocked to uncover the precious cargo amongst the wreckage, they adopt the Kryptonian infant, naming him Clark and raising him as their own. As the child grows, so do his powers of superhuman strength, speed, invulnerability and his ability to fly, among others.

The Kents instill in their son a strong work ethic, the values of generosity and kindness, and the importance of using his powers for good. After college, Clark moves from Smallville to the big city of Metropolis, taking a job as a reporter for the Daily Planet newspaper. Feeling the call to heroism, he adopts the identity of Superman. His heroic adventures pit him against some of history's greatest villains, send him to alternative universes and even reunite him with fellow Kryptonians.
