Imagery from Canada's First Nations - The Raven $20 Fine Silver Selective Gold-Plated Coin

This fine silver $20 coin issued by the Royal Canadian Mint features one of the seven animal- or bird-based on Canadian First Nations stories and teachings. The animal represented in this coin is the raven. On the obverse of each coin, the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II is also selectively gold-plated. On the left is the date "2014," and on the right is "9999."

The image on this coin shows the raven on the arm of a giant Kitch-Sabe; largely in the background is a branch of a cedar tree, symbolizing groundedness. Honesty is one of the seven sacred teachings that honour the traditional concepts of respect and sharing that are the cornerstones of Indigenous life. While variations of these teachings do exist throughout North America, this diversity only enriches them and underscores the universality of their wisdom.
