Product Overview
Scarce, popular, beautiful and dramatically impressive in a big five-ounce 65-mm format with reverse gold plating, every coin in the Big Coin series has sold out immediately from the Royal Canadian Mint since they were first introduced in 2015, with earlier coins appreciating to as much as $1,200 each. The highlight of the 2019 series was a iconic flying loon design which does not appear on circulation-issue coins. This coin sold out very quickly from the RCM and is already a coveted collectible in the secondary market.

The design features a re-creation of the iconic flying loon design first created to mark the 10th anniversary of Canada's loon dollar in 1997. The design by Canadian artist Jean-Luc Grondin presents a striking image of a loon taking flight. Reverse gold plating fills the field while the coin's silver surface draws the eye to the engraved relief, which includes the words "Canada" and "dollar," and the date "2019." The reverse gold-plated obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

This is coin has a 65-mm diameter and a weight of just over five ounces of pure silver. It is enhanced with reverse gold plating, which adds a warm-toned gleam that creates a rich contrast next to the silver shine of the engraved relief and makes the effigy of Queen Elizabeth stand out from the golden field.
