Product Overview
Discover classic art and beauty of the early 1800s with this set of two complementary fine silver coins based on two famous paintings by Francisco José de Goya. The original paintings depict the same reclining woman, naked and clothed, and were originally painted around 1800 to 1803. They are now highlights of the Prado Museum, and two of the most renowned Spanish works of art from this era.

The coins are 2015-dated legal tender issues from the Solomon Islands, with a mintage of just 1800 sets. Each coin is struck in one ounce of pure silver conforming to the rectangular shape of the original canvases, and each is further enhanced with exceptional colour, gold plating and precious gemstones. The Nude Maja coin includes a genuine blue sapphire while the Clothed Maja coin includes a genuine red ruby. The coins come in a luxury display box with capsules, certificates, and full-colour images of both paintings.

The silver weight, fineness and the name of each painting—"The Clothed Maja-Prado" and "The Nude Maja-Prado"—are included on the coin designs. The obverse of both coins depict the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the issuing country Solomon Islands, the 2015 issue date and the $5 face value.
