Estate Originals Stainless Steel Cartier Santos Galbee Swiss-Made Wristwatch

This gentleman's Cartier Santos Galbee Swiss-made wristwatch is fashioned in stainless steel. It has a 29-mm case diameter, a square off-white colour dial, black Roman numerals, black and luminescent hands and a stainless-steel screw motif. A date window appears at the six o'clock position. The watch also has a sapphire crystal, a blue gemstone crown and runs on an automatic movement, and is water-resistant to 100 metres. The watch is attached to a stainless-steel bracelet with screw motif and a double deployment clasp. 

The Santos collection stands out as some of the best luxury watches on the market. The name is in honor of the 100-year anniversary of the first wristwatch designed by Louis Cartier and is a true modernization of this classic design. The Santos watch was conceived by Louis Cartier in 1904 to help aviators tell time mid-flight and was the first modern wristwatch. Its signature design has become iconic, with visible screws and a daring square silhouette, it has adapted effortlessly to the times since its creation, while staying true to the watch’s boundary-breaking inspiration. The design of the Santos de Cartier watch epitomizes Cartier watchmaking, drawing on the concept of form, a taste for minimalism, the precision of proportions and finally, an eye for detail. In 1987, the Santos was completely revised, renamed, and relaunched as the Santos Galbée. The case lost its boxy looks and became more curved around the lugs, fitting better on the wrist than the original Santos. There are a few other differences between the Cartier Santos 100 and the Santos Galbée. First, the Galbée is slightly smaller and has a more elongated shape. The Galbée also boasts a date window, which both models of the Santos 100 lack.
