18K Yellow and White Gold Black Opal Triplet and Diamond Ring

A large, breathtaking black opal triplet centers this alluring ring. The oval opal displays hues of blue, green, yellow and orange play-of-colour. Twenty-seven round shaped diamonds, each prong-set in white gold, surround the opal in a halo style setting that is then trimmed with a yellow gold twisted border. A wide tapered band supports the ring in a low-profile presentation and is textured with a cross hatch pattern that fills the entire band except for a small area around the back that allows for sizing. The inside of the ring is finished with a solid high polished back that allows the ring to glide onto the finger while adding the benefit of comfort at a solid weight. 

Opal triplets consist of three parts. First, a thin base (often black obsidian, plastic, basalt or glass). Next, a thin slice of precious opal. Lastly, a clear top of quartz, synthetic spinel, or other material that protects the opal and sometimes serves as a magnifying lens to enhance appearance.
