Product Overview
This vintage ring is crafted in beautiful white gold and features a bezel-set 1.03 carat Old European cut diamond, at its center. Unlike the majority of engagement rings, this one is designed in a bold, handsome fashion with high polished ribbed shoulders that extend right up to the bezel. Both the front and back display two scalloped pierced undergalleries, one on each side of a tapered ribbed column. This ring is suitable for either a man or a woman.
An old European cut diamond has a round shape featuring 58 large facets and a small circle in the center (the open culet) and was primarily cut, by hand, between 1890-1930. They were especially common during the Art Deco period. These antique diamonds were one of the predecessors to the modern round brilliant cut diamond, which is now the most popular diamond shape. The sparkle of old cut diamonds is deeper and warmer, almost glowing in a way that draws the eye into the stone instead of bouncing the light back out. This makes old cut diamonds star performers in candlelight and other low light settings.
