Product Overview

This is a rare, near-perfect uncirculated example of Canada's 1937 $100 banknote. The note has been certified as Choice Uncirculated 64 by Paper Money Guarantee, one of the largest and most respected independent third-party grading services in the world. The note includes the signatures of J. E. Coyne as the deputy governor of the Bank of Canada and G. F. Towers as the governor.

The 1937 issue was the first to feature bilingual text, and the last to feature an allegorical design. The front design features Sir John A. Macdonald, while the back features a commerce and industry allegory: a seated male showing a ship to a child, with a dock and industry scene in the background. This is often considered to be one of the most beautiful banknote designs ever issued by the Bank of Canada.

In 1937, $100 was a very large denomination, with a current purchasing equivalent value of more than $2,000. As a result, notes in new condition were rarely saved, making surviving examples elusive for collectors today.
