This coin design is based on the action film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. This was the first live-action film to feature both Batman and Superman, as well as the first theatrical film to feature live-action portrayals of Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash and Cyborg.
The coin design illustrates the duality and similarities between Batman and Superman. Frosted finishes add a contrasting element to the polygon shapes that create a stunning "shattered glass" effect. Each superhero's name is engraved in the Kryptonian syllabic writing system established by Canadian linguist Dr. Christine Schreyer.
The reverse image combines the application of robust colour over intricate engraving to bring to life artistic depictions of Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman—the "trinity" of the DC Comics Universe. Throughout the image's background, carefully positioned polygon shapes are contrasted through the use of frosted finishes in order to create a stunning shattered-glass effect; this visual element is highly symbolic, for it represents the shattering of what was established in Man of Steel and the challenges that lie ahead after Superman has revealed himself to the world.
