This car is one of the most memorable cars of the 1970s. SV-1 stood for "safety vehicle 1." The Bricklin was hailed as the safest production car built and featured many innovations: urethane bumpers, a fuel tank enclosure, a roll cage and a tubular steel–framed passenger compartment. Even the gull-winged doors were designed for safety, as they required a 12-inch clearance. The first Bricklin rolled off the line on July 1, 1974 in St. John, New Brunswick. Administration problems forced Bricklin Canada to close its doors after 15 months of operation, having produced only 2,854 cars.
