The Royal Canadian Mint occasionally produces test coins or tokens in the development stages of creating new coins. This is particularly the case when a new metal is being used, or a new production process is being introduced. In 2004, the Royal Canadian Mint decided to make a small number of test token sets available to collectors with test coins for the coloured coin designs. This set includes the test token one-cent, five-cents, 10-cents, colour poppy test token (25-cent) and the actual colorized 25-cent coin, and the $1 and $2 test coins. Only 10,000 sets were produced.
