2013 $2 Niue Coin Celebrating 50 Years of Spider-Man Fine Silver Coin

Spider-Man is one of the most popular and commercially successful superheroes. As Marvel's flagship character and company mascot, he has appeared in many forms of media, including several animated and live-action television shows, syndicated newspaper comic strips, and a series of films starring Tobey Maguire as the "friendly neighborhood" hero in the first three movies.

The reverse of this exciting new coin is a colour version of Spider-Man. Stan Lee and Steve Ditko began the phenomenon in 1962 in issue 15 of the anthology series Amazing Fantasy, when Peter Parker was given powers via the bite of a radioactive spider. The Amazing Spider-Man #1 was released in March 1963, and was completely devoted to the web-slinging hero. On the obverse is a profile of Queen Elizabeth II. Each coin comes encapsulated in a superbly illustrated metal case and includes a certificate of authenticity with a copy of Stan Lee's signature!
