Product Overview

With a mintage of just 650 pieces for Canada and the world, this huge half kilo $125 coin is a rare and highly collectible work of art in pure silver. The reverse design by Canadian artist Pierre Leduc features a close up side profile of a regal looking elk bull. Detailed engraving adds a sense of texture to this majestic species' fur and towering rack of antlers, which overlap the field. The elk is presented lifting its heavy head towards the sky as he releases a high-pitched bugle into the autumn breeze, allowing it to resonate across the forest and river valley depicted in the background, and across to the base of the mountains seen in the distance.

The grandeur of the Elk Bull is magnified by the exceptionally large format of this coin. With a diameter of 85 mm (nearly 3.5") and a pure silver weight of just over half a kilogram (over 16 troy ounces), this is an impressive coin that just 650 collectors will ever have the chance to own. As a pure silver coin issued by the Royal Canadian Mint, it is GST/HST exempt.
