Product Overview

Following the quick RCM sell-out of subscriptions for the full Real Shapes series and a quick sell-out of single coins for the loon design, this second coin in the series is expected to be equally popular. Famed sculptor Emanuel Hahn's well-known portrait of a caribou is lifted out of the circular field of Canada's 25-cent piece and granted the freedom to roam. The coin is dated 2020 with a $50 denomination and weighs 100 grams (over three ounces) of pure silver. The mintage is extremely limited to just 1,200, which adds to its collectability.

Canadian artist Emanuel Hahn's iconic caribou design takes shape on this $50 coin. First issued in 1937, this design has been used continuously on Canadian quarters ever since, with a few commemorative exceptions. The caribou has remained the visual signature of Canada's 25-cent circulation coin for more than 80 years. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt and a pattern of caribou silhouettes.
