This 2023 special-edition silver maple leaf coin combines a deep 1.5-mm incuse strike with black rhodium plating to give it a rich, mysterious and modern edge. It's a study in contrasts, mixing raised relief with incused central elements, using a reverse proof finish with a frosted field and brilliant design, and with dark black rhodium enveloping the bright .9999 fine silver.
The coin's reverse features Walter Ott's iconic sugar maple leaf design, now transformed into a deep impression in the coin while maintaining all of the ultra-fine details. The design also includes the engraved words "Canada" and "fine silver 1 oz argent pur," as well as the purity standard of "9999." The obverse features the posthumous memorial effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt, plus the $20 denomination, the 2023 date and the dates of reign, 1952–2022.
