This 2023 $50 five-ounce fine silver maple leaf coin provides an elegant and refined new perspective on what started 35 years ago as Canada's new silver maple leaf (SML) bullion coin.  Enhanced with selective gold plating, Walter Ott's original maple-leaf design is now flanked by intertwined vines and maple leaves and a banner marking the 35th anniversary of the SML in 2023. The selectively gold-plated obverse features the posthumous effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt together with the double dates of her reign, "1952–2022."
