As the creator of Anne of Green Gables, Montgomery has taken her place as a literary icon whose writing is treasured by millions worldwide. Flowing from the engraved portrait of the author putting pen to paper, the design moves into the rich inner world of L. M. Montgomery, where the fictional Anne Shirley gazes out at the colourful P.E.I. landscape immortalized in Montgomery's stories. The obverse features the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III by Steven Rosati.
