2024 $20 Fine Silver Pysanka Egg Coin

This 2024 $20 fine silver coin continues the tradition of celebrating life and the season of renewal through an intricately designed and selectively coloured Ukrainian Pysanka egg.  All previous coins in this annual series that started in 2016 have sold out from the Royal Canadian Mint immediately upon release and appreciated in value in the secondary market.  This Easter symbol of renewal will have extra meaning as the Royal Canadian Mint is donating the net proceeds to the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

The main design features motifs rooted in tradition and enhanced with contemporary colours. Diamonds represent knowledge and the four corners of the earth, while nets denote the division of good from evil and right from wrong. The eight-pointed star motif—an ancient symbol of the sun and the return of spring—appears alongside stylized flowers, flanked by periwinkle leaves and vines. Together, these symbols radiate hope and resilience while celebrating the relationship between the earth and the sun, and the cyclical nature of life. The obverse features a posthumous effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II together with a double-date showing Her Majesty's reign, from 1952 to 2022.
