Product Overview

Celebrate the year of the snake and mark a special moment in 2025 with this one-ounce $15 fine silver coin from the Royal Canadian Mint. The snake is presented with its lucky flower, the orchid. Orchid leaves and branches are positioned around its form so the snake appears to be part of a tree, thus representing the wood element in 2025. Its head faces east—a lucky direction for the snake—while its coiled body forms the shape of the luckiest number in Chinese culture, eight, which is associated with wealth and prosperity. The Chinese character for snake, the word Canada, the year 2025 and the face value of 15 dollars are also included. The obverse features the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III by Canadian artist Steven Rosati.

The lunar year of the snake coin is encapsulated and presented in a black Royal Canadian Mint-branded clamshell with a red outer box that evokes the Chinese New Year custom of gifting "lucky money" in a red envelope. Those born between January 29, 2025 and February 16, 2026 will fall into the year of the snake, as are those born in 2013, 2001, 1989, 1977, 1965, 1953, 1941 and 1929.
