Product Overview

This is an authentic ancient bronze arrowhead that dates back more than 2,600 years. It is believed to have been produced in Anatolia, also known in antiquity as Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey), between 1200 and 600 BCE.

While most later arrowheads are much smaller, this is a large and impressive artifact, with a length of about seven centimeters and a three-sided design. It provides a fascinating and tangible glimpse into the weapons of antiquity and may even provide some sense of how a foot soldier would have felt with enemy archers waiting with drawn bows. An arrow with an arrowhead of this size would have been equally lethal to an enemy soldier or a large game animal hunted for food.

The bow and arrow has been used for hunting and in warfare for more than 20,000 years, and served as humankind's most advanced weapon until the invention of the gun. Bows and arrows were widely used throughout Europe and beyond including through the rise and fall of the ancient Greek and Roman Empires. They were a vital part of the military battles that expanded empires and changed the political landscape of the Western world.
