1867–1982 Fathers of Confederation Constitution Nickel Dollar Coin
115 years after the British North America Act was passed in England as Canada's original constitution, the Constitution Act of 1982 was enacted on April 17, 1982 to "patriate" and update our constitution. Incorporating the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, this act is the most fundamental framework for all laws of Canada and the rights and privileges of all Canadians. To mark this event, the Royal Canadian Mint struck a special commemorative dollar coin featuring a representation of the famous 1884 "Fathers of Confederation" painting by Robert Harris. The scene is an amalgamation of the Charlottetown and Quebec City conference sites and attendees. The coin is double-dated "1867 Confederation, Constitution 1982."

1534–1984 Jacques Cartier Nickel Dollar Coin
In 1534, French navigator Jacques Cartier was sent by King Francis I to the New World in search of riches and a new route to Asia. He was an important part of Canada's history because when he placed the flag in the mouth of the St. Lawrence river, he helped France claim it.
