Product Overview
The reverse of each coin features the familiar voyageur design introduced in 1935 and continued through the silver dollars up to 1966 and used again on the nickel dollars from 1968 to 1987. The design presents an Indigenous person and a voyageur (a travelling agent for a fur company), paddling a canoe past a small island with two wind-swept trees, with vertical lines in the background representing the Northern Lights.
Each of the three coins uses a different obverse design. While the 1935 and 1936 coins both feature an effigy of King George V, the effigies are slightly different, with the 1935 issue including the motto indicating that the coin celebrates the Silver Jubilee of George V. The 1936 coin is the only dollar date to feature the regular non-commemorative effigy of George V, while the 1937 coin is the first to feature King George VI.
