Custom Made 14KT Yellow and White Gold Opal Triplet and Diamond Brooch

This fiery brooch is a sculptural work of art, creatively custom crafted in 14kt yellow and white gold. It is centered with an oval shaped opal, set east/west with three prongs at the top and a leaf patterning, at the bottom. The opal is, in fact, a triplet which means that it consists of three layers; a black backing of onyx, a paper-thin slice of opal in the middle and a clear glass, quartz, or plastic capping in the shape of a dome on top. An intense blue, green, orange and red play-of-colour emanates from the opal in a mosaic-like pattern.  Three rows of twisted rope caress the top of the piece while a multi row of overlapping textured leaves envelope the bottom. Sprinkled within the leaves, at the bottom, are eight round brilliant cut diamonds of various weights, all set with four white gold prongs. The largest diamond is a quarter of a carat while the remaining seven combine for .60 carats. All eight provide a .85 carat total diamond weight.
