Product Overview

This charming antique arrow-and-bird brooch is a beautifully symbolic piece, crafted from 10K yellow gold and sterling silver. Measuring approximately 6.5 cm in length, the brooch features an elegant arrow motif running east to west, its linear form lending a sense of direction and movement. The arrow shaft and pin are rendered in warm 10K yellow gold, providing a rich contrast to the sterling silver elements.

The fletching and arrowhead details are crafted in silver and set with rose-cut diamonds, their softly faceted surfaces catching the light with a gentle, romantic glow. Perched delicately upon the arrow shaft is a sparrow, also fashioned in sterling silver. The bird’s body and wings are set with rose-cut diamonds, while a round cabochon garnet forms its eye, adding a subtle flash of deep red and bringing the figure to life. The brooch secures with a traditional C clasp, a hallmark of antique construction and an indicator of its age.

Rose-cut diamonds, characterized by their flat bases and domed crowns covered in triangular facets, were widely used from the 18th through the late 19th century. Valued for their soft shimmer rather than modern brilliance, rose cuts were especially admired in candlelit settings. Based on the use of rose-cut diamonds, mixed metals, and a C-clasp fitting, this brooch was likely made in the late Victorian to early Edwardian period, circa the late 1800s to early 1900s.

Symbolically, the arrow has long represented direction, purpose, and forward momentum, while birds often signify freedom, hope, and the soul’s journey. Together, a bird perched on an arrow can suggest choosing one’s path with care, love guided by intention, or a moment of pause before decisive action. This poetic combination, paired with antique craftsmanship, makes the brooch not only a decorative jewel but also a meaningful emblem of guidance, devotion, and personal resolve.
