14K White Gold 10.29 Carat Lab Grown Sapphire and Old European Cut Diamond Ring

This stunning Art Deco designed ring, rendered in 14K white gold, was crafted between the years of 1915 and 1935. It features a rich royal blue 10.29 carat octagonal cut lab grown blue sapphire at its centre. The stone radiates from within a bezel set cushion shaped frame, accentuated with delicate milgraining, and appears to be floating as it is surrounded by negative space. An intricate pierced scallop design creates a rectangular presentation that is topped with four individual square motifs, each set with an old European cut diamond, on the top and bottom. The corners are cropped and the sides are set with an additional four old European cut diamonds on each side, further divided two and two by an engraved and pierced bar that spans east/west from the middle. Delicate details and milgrain edging combined with the geometric design are strong indications of the Art Deco period. The undercarriage has been hand pierced into an elegant scrolled pattern, allowing light to reach the underside of the stones for maximum sparkle. The sixteen sparkling old European cuts combine to total 0.22 carats.

Old European cut diamonds first appeared in the 1800's and were the preferred cut from 1890 - 1930's. They were the precursor to today's modern round brilliant cut.
