Product Overview
The Elgin National Watch Company, known also as the Elgin Watch Company, was a major US watch maker from 1864 to 1968. The company sold watches under the names Elgin, Lord Elgin, and Lady Elgin. For nearly 100 years, the company's manufacturing complex in Elgin, Illinois, was the world's largest site dedicated to watchmaking. Throughout their history, the Elgin National Watch Company was known for horological innovations. The high volume and mass production of Elgin watches means a relatively lower cost, compared to other vintage watch brands. This affordable and easy access is the particular reason why vintage watch collectors pursue this brand. The prices range from a few hundred to thousands of dollars depending on the model, quality, and gold content. The company discontinued all US manufacturing in 1968.
