Product Overview

This striking 14K yellow gold ring is a stunning piece of indigenous art. It is beautifully and intricately rendered with flowing lines, curves and bold shapes, creating a sense of movement and energy while capturing grace and power. This ring is not only a unique piece of jewellery but also a meaningful tribute to the natural world and the cultural heritage it represents. The inside of the piece is signed by the artist Nelson Cross with the year 1991.

Nelson Cross was born to the Eagle Clan of Haida Gwaii. He began carving in 1973, at the age of twenty, and trained under his uncle, Haida artist and teacher Gordon Cross, and Haida argillite carver Pat Dixon. In 1986, he helped renowned Haida artist Bill Reid to carve and paint a large canoe for Expo ’86. He also learned soldering techniques from Bill Reid. Nelson currently resides in Skidegate on Haida Gwaii, BC. He produces silk screens and carves wood, argillite, gold and silver.
