Ivan Thomas is a Nuu-chah-nulth native, born in the Tseshaht in Port Alberni on Vancouver Island. After graduating in 1992, he moved to Vancouver, where he is part of the artist community on the world-famous Granville Island. Ivan has developed his own interpretation of the magical world of animals, mythical creatures and beautiful forms of the typical Firsts Nations art. With the imagination of a true artist, he works constantly at creating new methods and new ways of expressing both the traditional and the contemporary.

The wolf is a symbol of great strength. It is considered wise and powerful and is known for its strong family ties. It is the leader of the animal kingdom and is admired for its tactful hunting skills and is the land manifestation of the Whale as they both mate for life.
