14K Yellow Gold White, Black and Gold Toned South Sea Pearl and Diamond Ring
Product Overview
A sophisticated celebration of colour, scale, and natural beauty, this 14K yellow gold South Sea pearl and diamond ring brings together three striking pearls in an unusual triangular arrangement. Each pearl is peg-mounted and intentionally different in both size and colour, creating a dynamic composition across the centre of the ring.
The largest is a white South Sea pearl, measuring approximately 12.20 mm, accompanied by a black pearl of intermediate size and a smaller gold-toned South Sea pearl, with the trio ranging from approximately 10.80 to 12.20 mm. The graduated scale gives the arrangement a natural sense of movement, while the contrasting colours allow each pearl to stand distinctly within the composition.
At the center of the design are four round, brilliant-cut diamonds, each individually prong set. The central diamond is flanked by three additional diamonds in a modified triangular presentation. Additional diamond groupings carefully define the spaces between the pearls. Separating the black pearl from the other two is a pyramid shaped arrangement of three diamonds on each side. Between the gold-toned and white pearls, five diamonds are arranged in groupings of three and two, set on an angle so that they appear to cradle the smaller golden pearl.
These carefully positioned diamond accents create visual connections between the pearls while emphasizing their contrasting colours and graduated sizes. A high polished 14K yellow gold shank completes the design, providing a warm, understated foundation for the more elaborate pearl and diamond center.
South Sea pearls are prized for their impressive size, substantial nacre, satin-like luster, and naturally occurring range of colours. They are primarily cultured using the large Pinctada maxima oyster in regions including Australia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and surrounding waters.
One of the most appealing characteristics of South Sea pearls is their natural variation in colour. White South Sea pearls can range from bright white to silver, cream, and subtly warm tones, while golden South Sea pearls can display hues ranging from pale champagne to rich, saturated gold. The intensity of a golden pearl's colour is a natural characteristic influenced by the oyster, genetics, and growing environment.
The dark pearl in this ring provides an especially dramatic contrast. Black pearls are most commonly associated with Tahitian pearls, which are produced by the Pinctada margaritifera oyster rather than the Pinctada maxima oyster that produces traditional South Sea pearls. Tahitian pearls can exhibit remarkable natural body colours ranging from charcoal and black to green, peacock, aubergine, and gray.
