18K White Gold Tahitian Pearl and Diamond Ring

This bold dinner ring is centered with a magnificent round shaped Tahitian cultured pearl measuring 13mm. It has a black body colour with hints of pink and green overtones and is almost blemish free. This outstanding pearl rests atop an 18K white gold scalloped border of high polished swirls and teardrop inserts, each containing a round brilliant cut diamond. The eight diamonds found within the swirls are bezel-set, while those within the teardrops are prong-set. The sixteen diamonds combine for 0.30 carats. A fancy pierced undergallery spans the shoulders and a high polished shank supports the setting.

Black Tahitian pearls are the only truly naturally occurring black pearls, in contrast to black freshwater and Akoya pearls which are always dyed. Beautiful Tahitian pearls are among the largest pearls in the world, ranging in size from approximately 8mm to 18mm. The only larger commercially harvested pearls today are of the South Sea variety. Luster, surface purity and shape are also important factors when determining the quality of a pearl.
