18K Yellow Gold Egyptian Designed Custom Cut Turquoise Bangle Bracelet

This rare storybook bracelet is crafted in yellow gold and tells the tale of Egyptian symbols of protection. The front section of the bangle depicts two Egyptian women, each kneeling on either side of a scarab. The scarabs were symbols of rebirth, resurrection, transformation, and growth. 

People wore scarab amulets for good luck and protection. The bodies of the dead were adorned with scarabs to ensure that they could travel safely to the afterlife and move on to the next world. The middle section is accompanied on both sides with a tapered panel, each featuring the lotus flower. Back in Egyptian times, the lotus flower was very important in religion. Meaning creation and rebirth, it was a symbol of the sun, because at nightfall it closed and went beneath the water, and at dawn it climbed up above the water and reopened. That’s why it became a symbol of the sun, creation, and regeneration. The lotus symbol is considered to be a true icon in Egyptian mythology and ancient Egyptian art. 

The front of the bangle is separated from the back by a hinge and sliding pin clasp. Two more scarabs adorn the back and are found on either side of an ankh. The ankh is a symbol originating in ancient Egypt and is one of the most famous and used symbols of ancient Egypt and the world. It is also known as the key of life or key of the Nile and can symbolize both life and life after death. 

Because of its association with the afterlife, the ankh is often found in burial chambers. Other symbolic meanings are ascribed to the ankh as well. It’s a cross with a looped top in a key-like shape, which represents eternal life, the morning sun, purifying, the life-giving power of water, clairvoyance, and the union of opposites like earth and heaven and male and female (Isis and Osiris).
