Product Overview
This Art Deco designed ring was custom crafted in 18K yellow and white gold between 1930 and 1935. It features an 8.00mm x 7.00mm x 3.00mm lily cut lab grown sapphire at its centre. Bezel-set in the middle of the sapphire is a rose cut diamond. An additional twenty rose cut diamonds decorate the white gold elongated, octagonal pierced setting. A yellow gold pierced foliate undergallery supports the top in a boat-like fashion.
Art Deco jewellery can be identified with geometric and angular patterns and is often set with rose cut diamonds. Rose cut diamonds originated around the 16th century and were made popular in the Georgian Era (the 1700’s). They were inspired by the spiral of petals in a rose bud and are known for a sensual shimmer and luster. Rose cut diamonds were one of the first cuts of diamond, cut by hand to optimize sparkle in candlelight as they were made before electricity was invented. They have a flat base and a domed top which is covered in distinctive triangular facets, which can vary from 3 to 24.
