Product Overview
This pendant is custom crafted in 14K yellow and rose gold. It features a 22K gold British Sovereign coin, dated 1963. The reverse (which faces down) features the famous St. George on a horse slaying a dragon design, engraved by Benedetto Pistrucci; the obverse (facing up) illustrates the young head of Queen Elizabeth as designed by Mary Gillick and reads "Queen Elizabeth II Dei Gratia Regina F:D: ." The coin is prong-set from behind and bezel set in yellow gold on the front. A rose gold 'S' design border surrounds the bezel. An oval bale is at the top and a 22" box link chain with lobster clasp is included. The 1963 Gold Sovereign is one of the most ubiquitous of all coins, and much sought after by both coin collectors and bullion investors. Sovereigns have been minted since 1817 (in Britain 1817-1917, 1925 and 1957 on). At coin fairs you often hear the dealers refer to these coins as "Sovs."
