Product Overview

This captivating rose gold antique rose cut diamond ring is an exquisite example of early diamond jewellery, rich in craftsmanship and historic charm. Designed in an elegant overall pear shape, the ring displays a layered composition that draws the eye downward in graceful symmetry. At the center, a bezel-set rose-cut diamond crowns a raised pear-shaped gold motif.

This upper element is finely ribbed, with the ribbing radiating toward the pointed end, emphasizing the elongated form. The underside of this raised section is delicately pierced with elongated rectangular openings, lending lightness and architectural interest to the design. Beneath it rests a larger pear-shaped element, bezel-set with ten rose-cut diamonds arranged within a refined double circle surround.

The perimeter of this lower pear echoes the craftsmanship above, featuring the same elongated rectangular piercings that create continuity and visual depth throughout the ring. Turning the ring over reveals a fully backed underside beneath the larger pear, intricately pierced in a lattice pattern that highlights the attention given to even the hidden details. The band rises into a modified fleur-de-lis motif at the shoulders, a decorative flourish often associated with antique jewelry. This element is capped with a double ribbed section before transitioning smoothly into a high-polished band. Matching earrings #749662 and bracelet #749663.

Rose-cut diamonds are among the earliest diamond cuts, dating back to the 16th century and remaining popular through the Georgian and Victorian eras. Characterized by a flat base and a domed crown covered in triangular facets, rose cuts produce a soft, romantic glow rather than the intense sparkle of modern brilliant cuts.

Their subtle shimmer was especially prized when jewellery was viewed by candlelight. Based on its use of rose-cut diamonds, pierced-gold construction, and ornamental motifs such as ribbing and fleur-de-lis elements, this ring was likely produced in the late 19th to early 20th century, during the Victorian to early Edwardian period. It embodies the artistry and elegance of its time, offering a rare and beautifully preserved glimpse into antique jewellery design.
