Product Overview

This charming yellow gold bee brooch is a beautifully detailed example of vintage British craftsmanship. Styled in full 3-dimensional form, the bee features a segmented body, textured fore and hind wings, articulated legs, gently curved antennae, and defined eyes that give the piece lifelike character and depth. The brooch is fully hallmarked with a crown, “375”, a lion passant, and the date letter “N,” confirming its assay in Birmingham, England, in 1987 and its composition in 9k gold.

These traditional British hallmarks attest to both its authenticity and its craftsmanship. Bee-themed jewellery has enjoyed periods of strong popularity throughout history. In Victorian times, bees were admired as symbols of hard work, community, loyalty, and industriousness, aligning well with the era’s sentimental and symbolic jewellery traditions. Bee motifs later reemerged in the mid-20th century and again in the 1970s–1980s as nature-inspired designs returned to fashion, reflecting a renewed appreciation for organic forms and meaningful symbolism. Today, vintage bee pieces remain especially sought after for their blend of whimsy, heritage, and emblematic significance.
