It was with the Omega maritime legacy in mind that the brand launched its Planet Ocean line in 2005. The stylish Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M pays homage to Omega’s dive watch heritage. At the heart of this timepiece is the co-axial escapement, a revolution in watchmaking when first introduced. The reduced stress on the moving parts means less need for lubrication, longer-lasting accuracy and a more stable power reserve rate. In short, this timepiece performs better for longer! Furthermore, the design incorporates classic Swiss watchmaking details such as the helium escape valve, GMT functionality, and dials with Arabic numerals and Super‑LumiNova. Not just for divers, these iconic Swiss dive watches can be worn by anyone who adores style. Innovative watchmaking is the cornerstone of Omega’s heritage, but it is inspired by sports timekeeping, conquests of space and advocacy on behalf of worthy organizations. The Five Deeps Expedition, the world’s first manned expedition to the deepest point in each of the five oceans, is the brainchild of submersible pilot and adventurer Victor Vescovo: the first person to have reached both the highest and lowest points on the planet. To support Victor’s bold expedition, Omega produced a Seamaster Planet Ocean timepiece that takes dive watch technology to a new level. Omega has been making divers’ watches since the 1930’s, but to create a timepiece robust enough to survive the demands of The Five Deeps Expedition would require an innovative approach and a team effort. Omega is always up for a challenge!
