The 9 o'clock hour is a white luminous marker and there is a magnified date window at the 3 o'clock. A fixed fluted 18K yellow gold bezel frames the dial. A stainless steel and 18K yellow gold oyster bracelet with deployment clasp is attached. The watch contains a Rolex 3136 automatic movement with about 48 hours of power reserve. It is scratch resistant, has a sapphire crystal and screw down crown. It is water resistant to 100 meters (330 feet) and comes with a Rolex pouch and instruction manual. The watch was originally purchased in 2013 and is model #116333 with case #G316063. The Rolex Wimbledon dial dates back to 1978. During that year, Rolex became the official timekeeper of the prestigious tennis tournament, Wimbledon Championships. In 2009 Rolex released a special dial for the Datejust II, symbolizing the collaboration between Rolex and the Wimbledon series, nicknaming it the “Wimbledon Rolex”.
Founded in 1905 by Hans Wilsdorf, Rolex has grown to become the world’s leading luxury watch brand. The Rolex name and the famed crown logo are synonymous with prestige, quality, and craftsmanship. The brand patented the first waterproof watch case in 1926, aptly named the Oyster. Using a proprietary construction comprising of a screw-down caseback, screw-down winding crown, and sealed crystal clamped down by a bezel, the Oyster case remains as the foundation for almost all modern Rolex watches. Rolex watches with Oyster cases have a minimum water resistance rating of 100 meters and can reach up to 3,900 meters for specialized diving watch models. In 1945, Rolex was the first to introduce a chronometer wristwatch with a date window on the dial. The Datejust and the Day-Date continue to be Rolex’s flagship dress watch models. In the 1980s, Rolex became the first watch brand to use high-grade 904L stainless steel for its watch cases. Since 2018, all steel Rolex watches are fashioned from Rolex’s own 904L alloy, known as "Oystersteel." Today, Rolex manufactures all of its mechanical movements in-house, using both cutting-edge machinery and traditional handmade techniques.
Roger Federer, noted as “the Master of the Court” proudly wears the Rolex DateJust. Both Federer and the Rolex DateJust have been long admired for their classic and stylish appeal. Rolex watches are designed to last for many decades and are worn as timepieces and jewellery while vintage models are also widely sought after by collectors. The first Rolex waterproof watch was unveiled in 1926 and was called the Oyster because it was clamped shut like an oyster shell and could survive under water.
