Vintage 2.34-Carat Diamond Cluster Ring with an Old-European-Cut Diamond, Signed "Cavelti"

This vintage ring has been crafted in 18K yellow gold and platinum and features a series of five prong-set diamonds clustered in two rows through the middle. The largest of these diamonds, a 0.45-carat Old European cut, is located on one side and is stacked with a slightly smaller round brilliant cut. The other three diamonds are nestled in the row beside. These four diamonds combine for 1.43 carats. The high-polished band is 18K yellow gold and fashioned at the bottom in a Euro shank style, meaning that is squared off to prevent it from toppling. It tapers out as it approaches the setting and folds over in a rounded scroll fashion to frame the centre cluster. The tops of the scroll on both sides are prong-set with 18 round, brilliant-cut diamonds that combine for 0.46 carats. All of the diamonds are set in platinum, and all combine for a 2.34 total carat weight. The inside of the ring is signed "Cavelti." The Old-European-cut diamond was primarily cut between 1890 and 1930 and is the precursor to today's modern round brilliant cut, but is chunkier. It has 58 facets and an open culet. Instead of coming to a point at the bottom, it is faceted with the smallest portion of the point cut off.
