You may remember Canada's last one-dollar and two-dollar banknotes, but these pristine uncirculated notes still in sequence as issued by the Bank of Canada are some of the best-quality surviving examples. You will receive five consecutively serial-numbered 1973 one-dollar notes, plus five consecutively serial-numbered 1986 two-dollar notes, all presented in archival-quality mylar sleeves.
Canada's last issue of $1 notes was dated 1973 and continued to be issued until 1989 when the notes were officially retired and no longer given back out by the chartered banks. Although the first loon dollar coins were issued in 1987, they circulated together with the $1 banknote for the first two years of issue. Canada's last $2 notes were dated 1986; they were officially discontinued in early 1996 and retired promptly as the new $2 coin was introduced. While many people saved a few of the last notes from circulation, these pristine, consecutively serial-numbered notes are some of the highest-quality and most desirable examples available to collectors.
