Rare 1926 Far 6 Five-Cent Coin, PCGS Certified Choice About Uncirculated, AU-58

This 1926 "far 6" variety five-cent coin is a superb high-quality example of one of the rarest and most sought-after five-cent nickel coins ever issued in Canada. The coin has been independently graded and certified as AU-58 by the Professional Coin Grading Service, the world's largest and most respected independent coin-certification company.  

1926 is the second-lowest mintage nickel ever issued, but it is the "far 6" variety of this coin which is extremely rare, with fewer known surviving examples than the scarce 1925 issue. In 1926, the vast majority of nickels were produced with the last digit "6" in the date very close to the maple leaf above and to the right of it. However, a very small number of coins were also struck from a different set of dies where the "6" is positioned much farther from the maple leaf. Most advanced collectors seek out both varieties to complete their collections, and the "far 6" variety can be extremely challenging to find, especially in anything better than well-circulated worn condition.
