This key-date low-mintage 1948 Canadian silver dollar is an extremely rare coin that has survived in Choice Uncirculated condition. It has been authenticated and graded as MS-63 by the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS), and comes protected in a tamper-proof holder. The coin is primarily brilliant with mint luster.
The 1948 silver dollar is Canada's lowest original mintage coin of any date issued for circulation from the first Province of Canada issue in 1858 through to the present. The coin has an original mintage of just 18,780 coins, and a much lower survival rate in Uncirculated condition.
As a Choice Uncirculated coin designated at MS-63, this coin in new condition as struck, with fewer than average "bag marks," which typically arise from coins coming in contact with each other both in the production process and when being shipped to banks in bulk canvas bags.
