Product Overview
This is an extremely rare major Canadian dime error coin, which shows a regular obverse strike of Queen Elizabeth (1968–1989 effigy), and is completely blank on the other size. This is a split planchet error. A split planchet error is a coin defect where the metal disk (planchet) splits, usually due to impurities, creating a lamination flaw before or after being struck by the dies. Coins with this error can be divided into two categories: "split before strike," showing a weak, striated design on both sides, or "split after strike," where one side retains a strong strike and the other is blank, showing the rough striations of the split. This coin is split after strike, which results in a dramatic uniface coin. The coin is in choice uncirculated condition, and has been independently graded and certified by PCGS as Uncirculated MS-61.
