This elegant 18K gold five-stone diamond ring features a graduated row of old European-cut diamonds totaling approximately 0.68 carats. The principal center transitional-cut diamond, weighing approximately 0.18 carats, is the largest of the five, with two slightly smaller stones graduating outward on either side to create a subtle, balanced progression across the finger.
Each diamond is secured within white gold prongs, providing a delicate contrast to the warm yellow gold of the band. Beneath the stones, a traditional pierced undergallery allows light to enter from the sides. A slim, highly polished yellow gold band supports the diamond-set top, creating a clean and wearable silhouette.
The five diamonds are old European cuts, an antique style that evolved from the earlier old mine cut and became particularly popular from the late 19th century through the first decades of the 20th century. Characterized by rounded outlines, relatively small tables, high crowns, deep pavilions, and often visible culets, these diamonds were cut by hand with an emphasis on fire and broad flashes of light rather than the precisely calculated proportions of today's round, brilliant-cut.
