Product Overview

The cent coin that most Canadians have known all their lives was first introduced 75 years ago in 1937. The design, by G. E. Kruger-Gray, was intended to modernize Canada's lowest denomination coin, using the maple leaf as a classic symbol of Canada. The year 2012 is both the 75th anniversary of this cent design and the last issue ever of one-cent coins in Canada. To mark these two events, the Royal Canadian Mint has produced Canada's first and only one-cent coin ever to be struck in pure gold. This coin weighs 1/25 of an ounce and features the classic maple leaf cent design.
